Looking to up your succulent game? With their soft cactus-like spines and star-shaped blossoms, an Orbea is the perfect plant to add a bit of low-maintenance character to your home.

Allow the soil to completely dry out between waterings. Once dry, water thoroughly until you see water flow from the drainage hole. Succulents do not like to have ‘wet feet,’ so make sure there is no standing water in the saucer.

While Orbea are succulents, most species of this plant prefer bright indirect light or partial shade instead of full sun, especially in the summer.

Your orbea is non-toxic but can be spikey!

Look out for pests like mealybugs on your Orbea! Damage from insects can lead to fungal diseases that are harder to treat. If you notice bugs on your Orbea, isolate it from the rest of your plants and treat it with a natural insecticide, like Neem oil. Gently wipe the plant with a cloth to physically remove any insects.
