Get to Know Schefflera alpine

Highlights

The Schefflera alpine is an upright shrub (or can even grow into a small tree) that's characterized by sprays of large, deep green leaves. It's a gorgeous, low-maintenance plant that elevates any room you place it in.

Watering

Water your Schefflera when most of the soil has dried out (when the top 75% of the soil is dry). Water until liquid flows through the drainage hole at the bottom of the pot and discard any water that has accumulated in the saucer.

Sunlight

Your Schefflera alpine prefers bright indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions as well. Too much direct light can singe the leaves. Rotate your plant a half-turn once a month. As it grows, it leans towards the light, so this will keep it looking full and even.

Pet-Friendly?

No! This plant is not pet friendly.

If the leaves are cut open, the sap inside can cause minor skin irritation. Wear gloves when pruning or repotting your plant to be safe. If ingested, it can cause mouth and digestive irritation.

Sad Plant (is your plant dying?)

The most common cause of your Schefflera alpine drooping is overwatering, and the resulting root rot. Signs of this include yellow lower leaves, poorly draining soil and an offensive smell from the soil. Other causes of drooping include cold stress, transplant shock, underwatering, or overfertilizing.
